Yoonjai Shin, CFA, CMT - Founder & CEO

Yoonjai leads Baritone’s investment research and strategy development. With more than two decades of industry experience, he designs disciplined frameworks across equities, income, and risk overlay strategies. His work integrates fundamental analysis, quantitative research, and applied data science to inform portfolio construction, security selection, and risk management.

Previously, Yoonjai served as VP and Portfolio Manager at CI Global Asset Management, where he was a senior member of the firm’s $35 billion multi-asset platform, co-managing mandates and contributing to its modernization and growth. He led initiatives spanning capital markets research, options-based strategy development, and scalable retirement-oriented solutions. During his tenure, the firm’s multi-asset mandates received industry recognition from Fundata, Lipper, and Morningstar.

Yoonjai holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designations and earned a BA in Economics from Western University. He has completed advanced studies in artificial intelligence and its practical application within investment research. He is registered as a Portfolio Manager through a Canadian registered dealer.

 
 

Ted Brown, CFP, CIM - Managing Partner

Ted is a Managing Partner at Baritone and contributes to the firm’s investment strategy development and advisor alignment. With more than 20 years of experience in financial planning and portfolio management, he brings practical insight into portfolio construction, client risk management, and the implementation of advanced investment frameworks within advisory practices.

Ted began his investment career at Edward Jones and later held roles at RBC Dominion Securities and the Bank of Montreal. He went on to lead advisory teams delivering integrated investment solutions and managing diversified client portfolios. His international experience includes professional and academic work in Beijing, Taipei, and London, shaping a global perspective on markets, adaptability, and disciplined execution.

Ted holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designations and earned dual degrees in Education and Arts, with a double major in History and Economics from the University of British Columbia. He is an Associate Portfolio Manager. Registration is held through a Canadian registered dealer.
